[BioC] spot format weights normalization

Hi to all,

Could any one explain me how normalizeWithinArrays function works with 
spot format?

I know that if I use the weight function wtarea(ideal=c(160,170)), all 
my spots between 160 and 170 will be 1 and all the rest down weighted.

But I can't find any information (example) about how the normalization 
is performed.
