Postdoctoral Fellowship in Biostatistics and Epigenomics at Johns Hopknis
University
The Departments of Medicine and Biostatistics at Johns Hopkins University
are inviting applications for positions at the level of Postdoctoral
Fellow. The scope of the fellowship is to do quantitative research, within
an interdisciplinary group coordinated by Rafael Irizarry, on the
development and application of quantitative methods for high throughput
analysis of epigenomics, or genome-wide analysis of epigenetic
information.
Epigenetics is the study of information in a cell, heritable during cell
division, other than the DNA sequence itself.
Epigenetics is an exciting research topic because more of the genome that is
conserved represents noncoding than coding sequence, and much of this
appears susceptible to epigenetic modification. Studies of the epigenetic
basis of common human disease have been limited because of the absence of
quantitative methods. Our group is developing high throughput tools for
epigenome analysis.
Suitable applicants will hold a PhD in computer or statistical. Candidates
with a PhD in areas of genetics or molecular biology, and substantial
quantitative expertise, are also strongly encouraged to apply.
Funding is available starting May 1st. Applicants should email a cv
(including a personal website url if
available), and arrange for two or more emails of reference to be sent to
Rafael Irizarry (ririzarr at jhsph.edu). Applications will be considered until
the position is filled. Johns Hopkins University is an Affirmative
Action/Equal Opportunity Employer.
