Postdoc Position in Bioinformatics
A Postdoc position in bioinformatics is immediately available at the
newly founded Institute for Bioinformatics at the Johannes Kepler
University (JKU) Linz, Austria. The position includes teaching
responsibilities and is a tenure position with an evaluation after 6 years.
The JKU supplies a perfect environment for bioinformatics research with
its strong biophysics and biochemical groups. The research activities in
bioinformatics are currently promoted by the Upper Austrian government
in its strategic program for future investments in science and
technology. The city of Linz, located in the beautiful alpine uplands,
is a nice place to live between Salzburg and Vienna (both cities are
reachable by an approximately 1,5 hours train trip).
The bioinformatics group's research interests currently include, among
others, the analysis of microarray and SNP data, protein 3D structure
prediction, protein classification, sequence analysis and motif
extraction, and molecular dynamics.
The ideal applicant will have a PhD in bioinformatics, computer science,
biology, mathematics, chemistry or physics. Background in machine
learning, data mining or statistics would be helpful.
Salary will be paid in accordance with the Austrian government salary
scale. Women in particular are invited to apply. If several applicants
