Platform :- linux Mandrake10.1
R-version :- 2.0.1

unable to access any web resources.

Results of capabilities() in R
capabilities()
    jpeg      png    tcltk      X11    GNOME     libz http/ftp  sockets
    TRUE     TRUE     TRUE     TRUE    FALSE     TRUE     TRUE     TRUE
