R-SIG-DCM -- Design and Analysis of Discrete Choice Modeling experiments

About R-SIG-DCM
English (USA)

This list is intended for discussion of issues revolving around the design and analysis of Discrete Choice (aka Stated Choice or Choice-Based Conjoint) experiments.

Its generally acknowledged that the hardest part of conducting such experiments is the experimental design: selecting alternatives (profiles, options) to be evaluated and then assigning them to choice sets.

This is still an active area of research and so R provides an excellent platform to share new ideas and code aimed at resolving the current problems for the applied researcher.

Also the R community has an opportunity to fill a void for experimenters who are unable or unwilling to purchase proprietary software to help with the task of experimental design, perhaps by replicating existing functionality of code from SAS, Sawtooth, JMP, SPEED or Design Expert.

Lastly, while R has good infrastructure for experimental design in the traditional sense (i.e. generation and evaluation of fractional factorials and balanced incomplete blocks) the use of packages can be daunting for the novice. This list can be a source of help for applied DC/SP/CBC researchers who may not necessarily be R experts.
