   Data analysis and modelling in molecular biology: systematic 
   cell-based assays, genomic-wide RNAi and automated microscopy 
   screening

RNA interference (RNAi) screening is a powerful technology for
measuring causal relationships between gene activities and phenotypes
and for the functional characterization of biological pathways.
Phenotypes can be measured at different levels of resolution, from
population-averaging reporter assays over flow cytometry to automated
microscopy of fixed or live cells.

The interpretation of the resulting data requires computational and
statistical analysis techniques. I will discuss the whole range of
steps: image analysis, normalisation, quality assessment, initial
statistical hit calling, dynamical modeling, classification of cells,
clustering and classification of phenotypes and genes. Much of the
software for these tasks is provided in the Bioconductor project.
