            Using categories to analyse gene expression data: 
            a holistic approach

The usual approach to finding differentially expressed genes is to 
select some arbitrary cut-off and declare those above that point to be 
differentially expressed and those below not. In this talk I propose a 
different approach, which makes use of all information (no cut-off is 
used) and user-defined groupings of genes to help identify potentially 
interesting subsets of genes. Several different inferential approaches 
are proposed and examined.
