The Research Center for Statistics invites applications for the
following position opening March 1, 2022, or upon agreement

POSTDOC (100%)
Research Center for Statistics, University of Geneva

Statistical models for climate extremes or financial crises are based on
extreme value theory. There is currently a high interest in modeling
such extreme events in complex scenarios with underlying graphical
structures, and in exploring connections to high-dimensional inference
and causality. The prospective PostDoc will work at the interface of
these research fields and potential topics include the development of
statistical methods to learn sparse structures in multivariate extremes.

The PostDoc will be part of the group of Prof. Sebastian Engelke within
the SNSF Eccellenza grant on "Graph structures, sparsity and
high-dimensional inference for extremes".

Requirements
- PhD in Statistics or Probability Theory;
- expertise in at least one of the areas extreme value theory, empirical
process theory, graphical models, causality;
- promising publication record;
- excellent programming skills;
- excellent oral and written skills in English, French skills would be
an advantage.

Starting date: March 1, 2022, or upon mutual agreement.

Further information: Hired on a 1-year contract renewable for a maximum
duration span of 3 years.
