[Statlist] 2 PhD student and 1 Postdoc vacancies at KAUST, Saudi Arabia

The Extreme Statistics group (http://extstat.kaust.edu.sa) lead by Prof.
Raphael Huser at the King Abdullah University of Science and Technology
(KAUST), Saudi Arabia, is looking for *2 bright and hard-working PhD
students and 1 Postdoctoral Research Fellow* to work on challenging
problems at the intersection between the areas of Statistics of Extremes,
Spatial Statistics and Bayesian Statistics. This will be part of a research
project entitled “Statistical Estimation and Detection of Extreme Hot
Spots, with Environmental and Ecological Applications” starting in April
2018 involving partners at KAUST, UK, and France. Active collaboration with
the project partners is expected.

Profile Required: Candidates should have a PhD degree in statistics, data
science, or a related field, and good scientific programming skills (e.g.,
R, or Matlab, C++, etc.). Experience in applications of Statistics of
Extremes, Bayesian Statistics, Spatial Statistics, or in manipulations of
large datasets is a plus. Interest for environmental applications is
crucial. Fluency in English in essential.
