SENIOR TEACHING AND RESEARCH ASSISTANT
(Assistant Professor non-tenure track)

Funding is available for a senior teaching and research assistantship (Oberassistenz, similar to assistant professorship non-tenure track) at the University of Bern. The choice of topics is wide and covers theoretical and applied probability, mathematical and applied statistics. This position is intended and ideal for young scientist pursuing the academic career (Habilitation).

The successful candidate possesses a PhD in probability or mathematical statistics and some postdoctoral experience. Collaborations with one or more of the senior staff members (Profs. L. Duembgen, R. Gatto, I. Molchanov or J. F. Ziegel) or interdisciplinary interactions (e.g. with the Oeschger Center for Climate Change Research) will be encouraged.

The appointment will be on the salary scales determined by the Canton of Bern and is possibly part-time (min. 60%), depending on the candidates preferences and teaching or other duties taken over.

The starting date is January 1, 2016, or as can be arranged by mutual agreement. The position is temporary and can be filled for four years at the first instance. An extension of the term of appointment to six years is possible.
