Lisbon, 5-9 September 2011

First Announcement

The 17th European Young Statisticians Meeting will be held
in Lisbon, Portugal, during 5 - 9 September 2011.
The conference is organized by young statisticians for young
statisticians, under the auspices of the European Regional
Committee of the Bernoulli Society. The aim is to provide
a scientific forum for the next generation of European
researchers in probability theory and statistics.

The meeting will gather about 46 participants from 23 European
countries. Participants are less than 30 years old or have
2 to 8 years of research experience. They are chosen by
invitation only based on scientific merits and in a uniformly
distributed way in Europe (2 participants from Switzerland).

Every participant will give a talk of 25 minutes and write an
extended abstract introducing his/her research subject, which
can cover any topic in the field of probability and statistics.
There will be no parallel sessions. For the first time in these
meetings, a special issue of "Communications in Statistics -
Theory and Methods" will be devoted to the 17th EYSM. It will
include selected papers strongly correlated to the talks of
the conference.

Applicants are requested to submit a short CV (up to one page)
and a short abstract of a potential talk (up to a half page)
per e-mail to Michaela Paul (michaela.paul using ifspm.uzh.ch).

Abstract submission is open until *February, 6th, 2011*.

All applicants will be notified about acceptance by the
15th of February, 2011.
