invites applications for

*The position of Statistician in Emotion Research *

As part of an Advanced Grant of the European Research Council to Klaus
Scherer for a 5-year project on the Production and Perception of Emotion
(PROPEREMO), the Swiss Center for Affective Sciences will fill the
position of a Statistician in Emotion Research at the University of Geneva.

Priority will be given to candidates with interests and competencies in
the following areas of statistical analysis:

1) Standard procedures of inferential statistical testing in psychology,
in particular multivariate methods including PCA, ICA, MANOVA,
Discriminant and Cluster Analysis, and Multilevel analysis.

2) Time series analysis for multiple data series such as waveforms or
event series, coherence and synchronization analysis, contingency and
risk analysis.

3) Use and development of specific techniques for emotion research such
as small sample statistics (bootstrapping, resampling), robust analyses,
reliability and profile analyses.

Requirements for candidates, in addition to an excellent statistics and
mathematics background and theoretical and methodological knowledge
depending on their level, are strong motivation to collaborate with
psychologists and neuroscientists in an interdisciplinary context,
interest in the development of new analysis techniques adapted to
specific research purposes, and a very good command of the English
language.

The chosen candidate is expected to both engage in independent research
and development of statistical techniques of particular relevance to
emotion research as well as to provide statistical assistance to the
project leader and to consult with the doctoral students and post-docs
in the project.

The position can be offered for a period of up to five years with a
possibility of prolongation. Salary depends on age, education, and
experience but is highly competitive on an international level. The
salary range can be between Fr. 70'000.00 and Fr. 90'000.00 per year
(before taxes).

Candidatures should be sent by mail to Daniela.Sauge using unige.ch. The
following documents are compulsory: a letter of motivation detailing the
candidate's particular competencies and interests, a detailed curriculum
vitae, and recommendation letters from two referees.

The deadline for submissions is June 15, 2009. The contract can start at
the earliest convenience of the chosen candidate, once the work permit
has been obtained.

In the interest of gender equality, the Center strongly encourages
applications by female candidates.
