Dear All:

My name is Bovas Abraham and I am contacting you on behalf of a group
known as the "Statistics in Business and Industry" (SBI) committee of the
International Statistical Institute (ISI). This is a group of
statisticians, from many parts of the world, who have been
working toward starting a section of the ISI devoted to Statistics in
Business and Industry (SBI). This effort has attracted many statisticians
in several countries and we have identified many groups and individuals
around the world who are interested in Business and Industrial Statistics.

At the moment we are contacting such individuals and groups to see whether
they would consider being part of an international group devoted to SBI in
the future. This is by no means a commitment to join. We are trying to
see how many people would be interested.

The objectives and some benefits of an SBI section are listed in the
attached document. More information about this committee can be obtained
from the website:  www.public.iastate.edu/~sbi/

I would appreciate it if you could get back to me by Feb 7, 2004
indicating your interest in these SBI activities. I would also appreciate
if you could let others with similar interests know of this. I will be
happy to contact them if you forward their e-mail addresses to me.
