Dear James,
thanks a lot for your suggestion.
Today, I've met with other Rmetrics core team members, but forgot to
address this issue.
I'm forwarding it hereby to the others.
My personal opinion: I think it's a very good idea to work with (and
hence 'Depend' on) the well maintained and known to be good quality
package 'XML'.
OTOH, I have not been involved in fImports, so
I really do leave this to those among us who are mainly involved with
'fImports'.
Martin

Hi Martin,
I was reading your response on the r-help mailing list "Re: [R]
fUtilities removed --> use fBasics"
Specifically you mentioned, "One excuse has been the lack of resources
and health on the side
of Rmetrics.
Disclaimer: I am one of Rmetrics-core at r-project.org, as having
been an active co-maintainer of some parts of the Rmetrics collection,
but I have not been part of the "management" nor the foundation."
A while back I noticed that the yahooKeystats function from the
fImport package was broken. Since I wanted to use the function, I went
ahead and fixed it for my use. Later, I went back and wrote a new
version of the yahooKeystats function utilizing the XML package. I
would be happy to provide that code as a replacement for yahooKeystats
if Rmetrics would be interested.
Best regards,
James
