[R-sig-QA] Successful Build of 2.4

Last night I successfully built R 2.4 from source on a Dell Dimension 
5100C desktop running PCLinuxOS, a fork of Mandrake/Mandriva.

It was pretty exciting for me, and I thought you'd like to know how 
easily it worked.
