Jake and Ben:

Thank you so much for your responses!  Your explanations and solutions 
have finally resolved this problem.

Although the SAS and R outputs for AIC, BIC, and Degrees of Freedom are 
different, all of the other parameters (logLik, Value, Std.Error,  
t-value, p-value, etc) do match.

I am indeed grateful for your help.
