Dear Patrizio,

Books on meta-analysis should include the formulas for commonly used outcome measures, such as raw / standardized mean differences, raw or r-to-z transformed correlation coefficients, and measures based on 2x2 table data such as log risk/odds ratios and risk differences. If you are looking for more specialized measures, then you usually have to look at the articles that introduce those measures. On the help page for the escalc() function, I provide references for all measures (that should also include the equations for the sampling variances):

Best,
Wolfgang

Subject: [R-meta] effect size variance formulas

Which are the best references, book and papers, that include all
formulas for calculating the variance of the different effect sizes?

Thanks

Patrizio
