Odd indeed. A local build of mine has

R version 4.1.0 Patched (2021-05-25 r80389)
Platform: x86_64-apple-darwin20.5.0 (64-bit)
Running under: macOS Big Sur 11.5.2

(Obvsly not up-to-the minute, and my build tools are likely not either on this machine...)
