[R-SIG-Mac] R 3.2.1 installation failure on OS X 10.6.8

Hi

Recently, I tried to install R 3.2.1 on my MacBook (v. 10.6.8). I received a message: "The installation failed. An unknown installation error occurred. The Installer encountered an error that caused the installation to fail. Contact the software manufacturer for assistance."

Would anybody have any suggestions as to what might be causing this issue?
