I recall we re-export DYLD_FALLBACK_LIBRARY_PATH in cases where it's needed - e.g. rJava uses in configure:

 DYLD_FALLBACK_LIBRARY_PATH=`"${RBIN}" --slave --vanilla -e 'cat(Sys.getenv("DYLD_FALLBACK_LIBRARY_PATH"))'`
 export DYLD_FALLBACK_LIBRARY_PATH
