I have this consistently in Terminal-R:

This is when building with XQuartz 2.7.7 and
Peter-Dalgaards-MacBook-Air:BUILD pd$ cat config.site
(which is likely showing my incompetence)
However, this is clearly sufficient to explain why the tkdensity demo crashed for me; presumably nothing to do witk tcltk per se.
