How does this help?

If I adjust ~/.Rprofile accordingly (using exactly "Google Chrome.app
(17.0.963)"), I get:

> help.start()
starting httpd help server ... done
If the browser launched by 'Google Chrome.app (17.0.963)' is already
    running, it is *not* restarted, and you must switch to its window.
Otherwise, be patient ...
