Hi Weiwei,

After following your (Weiwei Shi's) steps exactly, I can reproduce the problem on Mountain Lion 10.8.1 with R-2.16.

It's kind of annoying that I've not been able to ever again get anything else as below exception (the 4 dreaded questions).

Also attached a core dump.

I removed any history and .RData files, tried resetting it by moving the preferences out of the way. XQuartz 2.7.2. is happily running. Same with R.app GUI version 6240 (after fixing a small typo in  the latest commit:  i -> index).
