I have tried this on my MacBook Air 2011 (1.6Ghz i5, 4Gb memory, 128Gb flash) and Mac OS X 10.7.1
Using R 2.13.1 of 2011-07-08.
The problem occurs when running R 64 bit.
The 32 bit R doesn't have the problem.
