[R-SIG-Mac] distributing a customized R to students?

Dear all,

Could anyone suggest how to prepare a customized R CD to distribute to
students?

What I do for students using Windows (still the large majority of those in
my class) is to prepare an R-for-Windows installer that installs a
customized R along with the Rcmdr package and all its dependencies. I'd like
to prepare something similar, if possible, for students using Mac OS X.
Along with R, the Rcmdr package has many dependencies and requires that X11
and Tcl/Tk for X Windows are installed.

If it's not possible to create an installer that will install everything
necessary in one step, is there another approach to distributing the
required components on a CD? The object is to make the installation as
simple as possible, since many of my students find software installation
challenging.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks,
 John
