First, note that you have a problem with the compilers you're using.  
They are not compatible with R. It is strongly discouraged to use 3rd  
party compilers, because they usually don't work. Use Apple compilers  
plus our Fortran build (see http://r.research.att.com/tools/ for  
details). The offending file (/usr/local/lib/libgcc_s.10.4.dylib) is  
from some 3rd party gcc installation.

Unfortunately there is no flag to disable multi-arch builds. The only  
way is to remove the architectures you're not using from R, most  
easily from bin/exec (i.e. look in
/Library/Frameworks/R.framework/Resources/bin/exec
and remove any architectures you don't want to use).

However, as stated before the problem is in your tools, not in the ppc  
architecture.
