R 2.8.0 for Mac OS X 10.4 was released today, 2008/10/22.

** Important note **

Although binaries have been posted yesterday (2008/10/21), they were
incomplete (and contained a bug).
Before downloading make sure you are getting the correct, updated
binaries from today:
1) the CRAN website you are downloading from should say "Important
note - R 2.8.0 binaries have been updated 2008/10/22"
2) check the MD5 sums of the downloaded images (if they start with "e"
or "4" then they are old!)

If either of the above is not true, do NOT download that image -
change the mirror and/or wait until your mirror gets updated.

MD5 checksums:
MD5(R-2.8.0.dmg)= 929bc879c0ab2fe8b1ca514c796e8fa1
MD5(R-2.8.0-mini.dmg)= b6f2b5ddb279266090e27d525e528d6a

verify in Terminal with
md5 R-2.8.0.dmg
or
md5 R-2.8.0-mini.dmg

At any rate it is advisable to wait a day or so until both R binaries
and all binary packages have been propagated to the mirrors.

Cheers,
Simon
