Sorry, I didn't include any actual *relevant* information, my bad.  
Rookie mistake. :)

When I wrote the email, I noticed that I still had 2.6.0 installed, so  
I updated to the latest:

R version 2.6.1 (2007-11-26)

I'm in the habit of downloading the nightly releases for the GUI (not  
nightly, but occasionally). I'm currently running:

R GUI 1.23-devel (4903) (4903)

and I still see the issue.
