That's great news. Having official Fortran support would help a lot.

I can confirm that technically it should be reasonably easy - I was  
able to compile gfortran using Apple's sources and build (by adding  
gcc-4.2.x fortran code):

ginaz:bin$ ./gfortran-4.2 --version
GNU Fortran (GCC) 4.2.1 (Apple Inc. build 5531)

This is the first time in a long while that we can use Apple's  
sources and build system for Fortran. (Apple's 4.0 branch broke  
Fortran beyond repair).
