[R-SIG-Mac] two small problems, OSX 10.4.7

a) You need to have X11 loaded and usually "export DISPLAY=:0.0" does  
the job (if you're connecting to a server through ssh, you need to  
use 'ssh -Y' in order to connect, after loading and exporting X11);

b) if you downloaded through R, it should be already installed. If  
you downloaded through a browser, it depends on your system  
configuration.
