After I upgraded to R 2.3.0, the "Open in Editor" icon in the R console toolbar disappeared. It did leave a blank space in place, which does work when I click on it. I just have to remember it's hidden! I'm using a PowerPC G4 PowerBook, running OS X 10.4.6. Roberto Osorio
