[R-SIG-Mac] Update all error

I just upgraded to R 2.3.0:

platform powerpc-apple-darwin8.6.0
arch powerpc
os darwin8.6.0
system powerpc, darwin8.6.0
major 2
minor 3.0
year 2006
month 04
day 24
svn rev 37909
language R
version.string Version 2.3.0 (2006-04-24)

And subsequently tried to update all my installed packages using update all
from the R package installer, which resulted in the following:

...[downloading packages went fine]

trying URL
Content type 'application/x-tar' length 627489 bytes
opened URL
downloaded 612Kb

Error in sprintf(gettext(fmt, domain = domain), ...) :
argument is missing, with no default
In addition: Warning message:
cannot create HTML package index in: make.packages.html()
tar: ~/Library/R/library/file77a4044d: Cannot chdir: No such file or
tar: Error is not recoverable: exiting now

gzip: stdout: Broken pipe

If I update just a single package there are no problems.

Any hints about the cause of this are welcome.
