AFAIR OS X does not provide Excel-ODBC drivers (Excel is not part of  
the OS) and Microsoft doesn't, either. However, Actual Technologies do:
http://www.actualtechnologies.com
I used only their database ODBC drivers, so I don't know about the  
Office one, but it's supposed to work well.
