[R-SIG-Mac] R + Grass (newbie questions)

dear mac-users,

i'm on mac osx 10.4.6 (x11, x-code-2.2.1,
Grass-6.1.dmg, R-2.2.1.dmg)

i must install  rgdal (needed for spgrass6)

for this thigs, i must build gdal from source
( beacouse i can't use the libgrass inside /usr/local/
  right?)

can i install gdal source code  with a simple  
"./configure  -  make  -  sudo make install" ?

does R - grass (by spgrass6 connection) works fine if
i've only the 6.1cvs.dmg  installed on grass folder ?
