[R-SIG-Mac] rgl.snapshot

Dear List,

I am unable to take a snapshot using the rgl package eg:

  rgl.clear()
  rgl.points(rnorm(1000), rnorm(1000), rnorm(1000), color=heat.colors(1000),
size=2)
>   rgl.snapshot('test.png')
[1] "failed"

Same is true running R from Terminal or Cocoa GUI
Rgl 0.64-13 binary install from CRAN
libpng compiled from current source
I am running R 2.1.0a on OS X 10.3.9 on a Dual G5

Does anyone have any suggestions?  Many thanks,
