Then chances are that it is just an attempt to plot an object that is 
too large to fit the memory as discussed here in a post in Dec 04 (see 
the archives - Martin responded to that one). In such case it's not a 
problem of plot, but rather the user expecting the impossible. But, 
definitely, without the R code to reproduce there is no way to know for 
sure.
