I am having trouble building packages and can't track down the source
of the error. I built R in a different directory than the install
location and
then used make install. All of my packages built and installed
correctly to
the build directory. However, I get the following error when I try to
install to
the R installation (or to an arbitrary) directory:

------------------------------------------------------
R INSTALL ./lars_0.9-4.tar.gz
* Installing *source* package 'lars' ...
** libs
g77 -fno-common -g -O2 -c delcol.f -o delcol.o
gcc -bundle -flat_namespace -undefined suppress -L/usr/local/lib -o
lars.so delcol.o -L/usr/local/lib
-L/usr/local/lib/gcc/powerpc-apple-darwin7.0.0/3.4
-L/usr/local/lib/gcc/powerpc-apple-darwin7.0.0/3.4/../../.. -lfrtbegin
-lg2c -lgcc_s -lSystem -lcc_dynamic -framework R
ld: can't locate framework for: -framework R
make: *** [lars.so] Error 1
ERROR: compilation failed for package 'lars'
** Removing
'/usr/local/lib/R.framework/Versions/1.9.0/Resources/library/lars'

Thanks for any suggestions,
