[R-SIG-Mac]R on slow (<G3) Macs?

Dear readers,
do you have any experiences with R on older PowerMacs? Given the system
requirements in the FAQ, it should run even on Macs with PPC601 processor.
Is it possible to handle data matrices of say 1000 x 10 (observations x
variables) on a PPC603 200 MHz machine? Where lie bottlenecks if there
are any?
