[R-SIG-Mac]interrupt

OK, I have it now... "Allow Interrupt" works and seems to increase
computation time by 33% in the example I am looking at.

Here was the source of my confusion:

- the option is called "Allow Interrupt" in the menu, "Allow User Breaks"
in the Preferences pane, not clear to the naive user that these are the
same thing.

- at installation, I had "Allow User Breaks" checked in the Preferences
pane but it wasn't checked in the menu, it wasn't until I checked it in
the menu that the two started working together properly.

Yet again, many thanks for your help!
