Just for comparison.
On my 
G4 350MHz, OS 9.04    Carbon R 1.3.0    the code runs
40 (or 41) secs.

(about the correct linear factor to
733 MHz G4, with the standard R-1.3.0.
Carbon running in OS 9.2 -- 21secs   )
