Sense Networks is looking for a data scientist with a thorough background in
applied statistics, data visualization and exploration.
Our data are typically location-referenced so experience in working with
spatial data is a great plus.
Having worked with "big" data on multiple server architectures is another
valuable asset.
We are looking for candidates who pay attention to details but at the same
time are skilled in rapid prototyping.
The candidate should be sufficiently experienced and methodical in software
design to make results easily reproducible.
We need a versatile and motivated contributor who can design and lead a work
flow which starts from noisy data and ends in meaningful insights.

Candidates for this position should:
- have experience in modern regression, classification and categorical data
analysis
- thoroughly understand all core statistical concepts
- be skilled in designing efficient algorithms
- have experience in visualizations of spatiotemporal data
- have experience in condensing large data sets into various views and
hierarchically organized summaries.

Requirements
- M.S. in statistics or computer science or related field with 2+ years
experience
- Experience with a statistical package is required, preferably R, as well
as a basic understanding of data architecture.
- HIGH level of comfort with the Linux environment and its various tools
- Knowledge of Java is a plus.

This is a great opportunity to work in a dynamic team in our Manhattan
office. This will be a consulting arrangement but could potentially lead to
a long term relationship.
We are looking to fill this position as soon as possible.

Please send your resume and cover letter to
