Job Description

BIOCRATES Life Sciences AG is a leading metabolomics company using a
mass-spectrometry based technology platform. Its products and services
extract, deliver, and present rich information residing in metabolite
networks with unprecedented speed, low cost, and high reliability.
Biocrates’ quantitative approach enables immediate identification of
metabolites, measurement of their absolute concentrations, and mapping
to their respective pathways.

We are looking for a PhD holder in Bioinformatics with a minimum of
three years working experience to support our biomarker team in the
identification, validation and further development of biomarkers. The
chosen candidate will be part of our multidisciplinary team conducting
studies to discover and develop diagnostic biomarkers, as well as
biomarkers for the characterization of disease models and drug effects,
including side effects. 

Essential functions
* Analyzing omics data and integration of Metabolomics with other omics
data- selection of likely metabolite, protein and RNA targets for
quantification. 
* Contributing to presentations, patent applications, scientific
publications and reporting on project funding.

Requirements
* Candidate can work independently and is highly motivated, creative and
result-oriented.
* Problem solving skills and strong team orientation are fundamental.
* Good command of the English language (both oral and written).
* Candidate can statistically analyze and interpret metabolomics data
and other biological data and be part of a multi disciplinary research
team that conducts metabolomics studies to discover biomarkers for the
characterization of disease models, drug and side effects.
* Candidate can control the quality of metabolomics data and other
biological data obtained from clinicals samples / animal samples and
prepare data for analysis applying various normalisation methods.
* Candidate can provide statistical input to study protocols,
statistical analysis and study plans / integrated study statistical
summaries for biomarker trials including reports; provide listings,
summary tables, and figurespatient data scientific standards for
studies.
* Candidate can explore, test and optimise classification and
classification methods to enable the identification and refinement of
marker sets as diagnostic tools for selected disease areas.
* Candidate can improve methods and procedures to establish and ensure
the highest quality of work and results.
* Knowledge of existing bioinformatics software tools for gene, protein
and metabolite identification and expression analysis desirable;
practical experience with omics data analysis software (e.g. R package),
comparative analysis, data mining, scientific visualization and
experimental design a plus. 
* Background in life sciences strongly preferred.
