Subject: [BUGS] bugs.R for the new OpenBUGS

hi all. i have adapted the bugs.R package (for running Bugs from R) to
work with the new OpenBUGS announced by andrew thomas in his recent
email. you can just download and extract OpenBUGS into "c:/Program
Files/" and then download the new Bugs.R file and you'll be all
set--just run bugs() using the option version=1.4 for WinBUGS14 or
version=2 for OpenBUGS.

OpenBUGS is very nice, and the new brugs functions supplied by andrew
thomas allow a more convenient implementation (for one thing, you can
see the progress of the simulations in your R window). but don't remove
your copy of WinBUGS14 yet--in at least one example i've tried, OpenBUGS
is much slower to converge--it must be using a different updating algorithm.

anyway, if anyone has problems with the new bugs.R, just let me know.

yours
andrew
