[R-sig-Geo] xlsx or rJava issue

Didier, I noticed you are using macOS. Are you by any chance using RStudio as well? If yes, besides Edzer's suggestion, the following command has also helped me in the past:

sudo ln -f -s $(/usr/libexec/java_home)/jre/lib/server/libjvm.dylib /usr/local/lib

Then, try re-installing rJava - *from source* - now. It should work.

/Library/Java/JavaVirtualMachines/jdk1.8.0_25.jdk/Contents/Home/jre/lib/server/

is it a particular JAVA_HOME setting or a PATH issue?

I added this in the PATH, re-installed rJava, re-installed xlsx ... nope!
