[R-sig-Geo] Extraterrestrial solar radiation

Hello everybody,
I need help to calculate the extraterrestrial solar radiation for my
country using R (or GRASS GIS but I would rather R). I have the DEM of the
country and I would like to calculate the extraterrestrial solar radiation
for the whole territory . My goal is to calculate the moisture deficit
using the fomula
MD = Potential evapotranspiration - Precipitation
