[R-sig-Geo] smoothing spline with known error in y

Hi folks,
I write in order to ask an advice on how to correctly set a smoothing spline model where I know the error associated to each y (univariate) observation. After reading about it, I suppose I need a weighted spline model (in this case I would like to know how to use experimental error in the weight argument) but I really would like to hear something from the community.
