[R-sig-Geo] Combine two rasters combining attributes ( or at least values of each)?

Nevil:

Can you be more specific with what those attributes are?  You can use
a RAT table with rasters (?ratify in the raster package), but without
more specific details it is hard to give you a good answer.  What is
the data, and what, exactly, are you trying to accomplish?
