[R-sig-Geo] spml, spfeml and tolerance level

After some exploration and a hint from the package administrator, the
quickest way I found to avoid this problem (without having to customize
functions within the package) was setting:

.Machine$double.eps <- .Machine$double.eps^2

Just in case anyone faces this.
