Probably, but you're more likely to find out the answer if you ask on
an ArcGIS list instead of an R list.

I don't use ArcGis, but googling "great circle distance ArcGIS" turns
up a lot of potentially-helpful answers.

I think StackOverflow probably has an ArcGIS discussion board you
could try for more concrete answers.
