[R-sig-Geo] readOGR or writeOGR not closing connections?

My earlier reply to your request to test a newer version of rgdal seems to
have not been sent.

I can't receive attachments that are zip files. Could you change the
suffix to, say ".doc" and resend?

For everyone else on r-sig-geo, I apologize for the email noise; this is
an attempt to work around another email problem.
